Studia Marina is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Institute of Marine Biology, University of Montenegro. Studia Marina is published since 1965. Studia Marina is currently cited in the ASFA (Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts) database. ASFA is a component of the Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Information System (ASFIS), formed by four United Nations agency sponsors of ASFA and a network of international and national partners.
There are 30 published volumes of Studia Marina with a total of 139 scientific papers and three monographs. Studia Marina publishes original scientific papers, review articles, and short communications within the board field of marine and fishery sciences referring to the area of the Mediterranean, especially the Adriatic Sea.
Original scientific papers should only report original results. The length of the papers should be a maximum of ~80,000 characters with spaces. Larger articles can be accepted upon the editor’s discretion.
Review articles are generally accepted only upon invitation or after being agreed upon by the editor. Prospective authors are encouraged to send an extended abstract (up to two pages of printed text) which will outline the scope of the subject, its main points and objectives and explain how the topic will benefit the scientific public. Upon review of the abstract, the author can be invited to submit the manuscript within an agreed time limit and following the guidelines for submission of standard papers.
Short communications should be no longer than ~16,000 characters with spaces. They should be confined to a single point within the scope of Studia Marina, such as an unusual or rare occurrence, an interesting observation, etc.
Acceptance of papers. Papers will normally be reviewed by two or more experts in the relevant scientific discipline and evaluated for publication by the editor or editorial board. The submissions may be returned to authors without reviewal if the editor finds them to be of inadequate quality or inappropriate for Studia Marina.
